Job Description:

Responsibilities include maintaining a productive, high quality and customer focused MEP engineering discipline/department from current practice to best practices for diversified market sectors. You will manage a wide variety of projects from the initial design phase through to the on-site contract administration as it relates to Mechanical Engineering involving HVAC and plumbing design. Candidates must have experience in the design of mechanical building systems design for clients in educational, commercial, industrial, and healthcare markets and shall be able to prepare mechanical and plumbing working drawings, construction details and specifications within a BIM model, in a collaborative and team environment. The candidate should be self-motivated, sincere, conscientious and detail-oriented with strong communication skills in a professional manner. Candidates, in addition to participating in business development activities, should have sound management skills and enjoy working on technical aspects of building design projects in a fast-paced and supportive environment within a multi discipline team. Must be highly experienced with Revit, BIM and AutoCAD software (latest edition), and proficient with MS Office productivity software. A senior level of familiarity with the Ontario Building Code and knowledge of building science and construction detailing as it relates to specifically, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and hydronics will be an asset, along with a strong motivation for continual learning. A strong familiarity with green building design and energy modelling & auditing will also be an asset.  This position will lead to a senior management role with the capacity to lead and manage multiple projects in addition to eligibility for future partnership opportunity.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Ontario licensed P. Eng. In good standing
  • 5+ years experience in mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection) analysis and design for buildings (new and retrofit construction) ideally in consulting
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA)
  • Knowledge and experience producing 3D models and 2D mechanical/HVAC engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD in a BIM environment
  • Knowledge and application of applicable software for load calculations and HVAC sizing (HAP, REVIT MEP)
  • Require knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative, critical and pragmatic thought
  • Strong focus on quality and the ability to check your own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications and writing reports
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function with minimum supervision
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Team player
  • Commitment and dedication to client service and technical excellence
